The end of a 45-year tenure with Six Flags was announced this week as Melinda Ashcraft, President of Six Flags Atlanta has made the decision to leave the theme park giant. Ashcraft’s long history with the company began as a ride operator when Six Flags Over Georgia opened, and she expressed her surprise at being President of the company. Taking her place will be Dale Kaetzel, who will be coming from his post as president of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

Six Flags Over Georgia will be opening for its 2013 season on March 16, and will feature a new ride called SkyScreamer. This open-air swing ride takes passengers up 24 stories and then swings them around a 98-foot circle at 40 miles per hour. The White Water park will unveil the Typhoon Twister, which is an extreme water ride featuring a five storey drop.
